The pandemic has given us this great opportunity to enjoy a presentation from Nic Stover in America via Zoom.  His talk is entitled "Spirit Of The Western US" and it should be a great evening including some tips on low light landscape photography.  One to really look forward to!

Nic is based in San Luis Obispo, California,  and focuses on landscape photography. His work has taken him all over the globe from the backcountry of Greenland to the windswept mountains of Patagonia to the frigid extremes of Alaska.   His portfolio of work...

We have a great website with lots of information available to members but we do get a lot of questions about it so I'm running a short session this evening, just to show what is there and how to find it.  The website differs in the way it is presented to you, dependent upon whether you are usiung a PC/Laptop/Mac or a smart phone, so I will first of all give you a tour based on how it appears on a larger screen then follow it up with how the layout varies on a smartphone.  I will not specifically deal with the view on a tablet as that falls somewhere between the two other views...

One of the benefits of holding remote sessions is that we can take advantage of speakers from other areas. Always a fun evening!  This year's challenge: 'try your hand at a new technique or genre of photography' and upload 3-5 images.  Tonight you will have the opportunity to show your images and share your story - why the technique or genre was chosen, difficulties encountered and resources that you found helpful.  The Chairman will select the best challenge portfolio and award a prize to the winner.  See Bulletin dated 22 Jan for more details.

An audio visual presentation by Cheltenham Camera Club members, of a selection of the best images from around the world accepted in the Cheltenham International Salon.  Always a stimulating evening.

Sarah Howard will give us her talk "An Image Seen - landscape photography thoughts and techniques"

Merry Christmas to everyone!

This should have been our Christmas Social when we all bring food to share and play silly games and a quiz or two!  Covid has changed most of that but get yourself something to eat and drink, log in to Zoom and sit back and enjoy the evening.  Roger is going to set up a Seasonal Quiz (and there MIGHT even be a prize!) and we're going to have a look at some of the amazing images from the WCPF (Western Counties Photographic Federation) Members' Exhibition. Join in for a fun night!

Back by popular demand, Oliver will be giving us his latest talk "A Landscape Photographer And The Lockdown"  The lockdown has forced Oliver to move out of his comfort zone and delve into macro and a bit of drone work in addition to his more familiar astrophotography and time lapses.  It should be a fascinating evening!

Our two roving reporters, Leslie Holmes and Roger Matthews both made pre-Covid trips to New Zealand and tonight they are pooling resources to give us a fascinating show of the beautiful and interesting places they each visited. Don't forget to pour yourself a glass of lovely New Zealand wine (I'm prejudiced too - my Dad was a New Zealander!)

This would have been Phil's first visit to Stroud but he's having to forgo that pleasure and make his presentation online instead! A biologist, photographer and award-winning BBC filmmaker, Phil will share images, lens science and methods to better your photography.  No matter what you shoot - sports, people, nature or astrophotography, there will be useful practical tips for everyone, beginner to pro.
