October Competition Results

The October photography competition, themed "Nature," brought together captivating wildlife, flora, and fauna imagery, all skillfully captured by our talented photographers. The category, which excludes domesticated animals and cultivated plants, showcased a broad spectrum of natural wonders. A total of 17 prints were on display, judged by esteemed photographer Eddy Lane from Calne.

 

After careful consideration, the results were as follows:

 

1. First Place: Red Squirrel "Sciurus vulgaris" - Ian Peters

2. Second Place: Leopard with aardvark - Leslie Holmes

3. Third Place: Polar bear on ice - Leslie Holmes

4. Highly Commended: Carder Bumble Bee on Ivy Flower - Richard Atkinson

5. Highly Commended: Kingfisher Spray - René Cason AFIAP

6. Commended: Looming Storm - Torres del Paine Patagonia - Kerrin Malone

7. Commended: NEARLY ALL ACROSS - Brian Dinnage

In addition to the stunning prints on display, the October competition featured an impressive 43 entries in the digital section, submitted by 22 talented photographers. Judging duties were once again expertly handled by Eddy Lane, whose keen eye for nature photography brought insight and feedback to each piece.

 

The results for the digital section are as follows:

 

1. First Place: Ups and down - Leslie Holmes

2. Second Place: Little owl dealing with the rain - René Cason AFIAP

3. Third Place: Elephant in Amboseli - Leslie Holmes

4. Highly Commended: Humboldt Penguins - Roger Matthews

5. Highly Commended: Garden spider spinning its web - René Cason AFIAP

6. Commended: Red Crowned Crane with Chick - Malcolm Marner

7. Commended: Plastic - Waste! jpg - Kerrin Malone

8. Commended: Grey seals "Halichoerus grypus" - Ian Peters

 

To conclude the evening, Eddy Lane captivated the audience by sharing his own camera trap footage, filmed in his garden. The video showcased remarkable wildlife encounters, including appearances from a heron, muntjac deer, roe deer, and his prized captures of an otter family, complete with an adorable kit.
