Stroud Camera Club came into being on 4th May 1939, with the country unknowingly on the brink of war. The Club survived intact and has now been taking photographs for nearly 85 years.
Technology has changed drastically in that time, from the glass plate images of Rodney Shepheard, an early club member, to today’s images produced with the very latest digital cameras and editing software. However, the constant factor throughout is the joy of photography and it is simply by embracing that which has made Stroud Camera Club what it is today - one of the most successful photographic clubs in the Western Counties.
We are always keen to include new members so if you have an interest in photography at any level, you’d be most welcome to come and join us. You will be assured of a warm welcome as we have a well-deserved reputation throughout the region as a friendly and vibrant group.
Our active Season runs from September to May and during those months we meet each Thursday evening at the Cotswold Bowls Club, where we have a varied and lively programme of talks, practical evenings and competitions with guest judges. In the summer we take a break from formal meetings but paid-up members are invited to join in with some informal summer evening gatherings before the new Season starts in September.
