Celebrating Club Talent: Leslie Holmes Exhibits at the Corinium Museum
It is with great pride that we highlight a notable achievement by one of our own. Leslie Holmes, Treasurer and long-standing member of Stroud Camera Club, is currently exhibiting her exceptional nature photography at the Corinium Museum in Cirencester. The exhibition will run throughout June (until 29th) and offers a rare opportunity to view a curated selection of Leslie’s most striking work.
Leslie is an award-winning photographer whose contributions to the club over the years have been both inspiring and invaluable. Her images have consistently stood out in internal competitions, and she has garnered significant recognition beyond the club as well. With a particular affinity for nature and wildlife, Leslie brings both technical precision and a profound sensitivity to her subjects, capturing fleeting moments with remarkable clarity and emotion.
The Corinium Museum provides a fitting venue for the exhibition. Its gallery space allows for quiet reflection and close appreciation of the work on display. Leslie’s photographs range from evocative wildlife portraits to broader natural landscapes. Each image is the product of patience, dedication, and a deep understanding of the natural world.
The exhibition is a collaborative family and artistic effort, adding further depth to the presentation. Leslie is joined by her daughter, Alex Holmes, a ceramicist whose organic and nature-inspired work complements the photographic pieces beautifully. Also exhibiting is Helen Brabb, a traditional water-based artist known for her skillful, detailed works in both water colour and acrylic. Together, the three artists offer a multidisciplinary celebration of nature and creativity, making "Cultures and Creatures" a richly rewarding exhibition to visit.
A private view was held on Tuesday evening, marking the official opening of the exhibition. The event was well attended, with a strong presence from fellow Stroud Camera Club members, members of the local artistic community, and invited guests. Among the attendees was Lord Bathurst, whose support added a notable highlight to the evening. Lord Bathurst spent time engaging with the artists and expressed appreciation for the quality and originality of the work on display.
The atmosphere at the private view was both celebratory and thoughtful, offering a chance for attendees to reflect on the work and connect with the artists. It was also an opportunity for members of Stroud Camera Club to see Leslie’s work presented in a new context — beautifully mounted, carefully lit, and displayed within a respected public museum. It’s one thing to see images projected at club meetings; it’s quite another to experience them as part of a curated exhibition.
This event is more than a personal milestone for Leslie — it is a moment of collective pride for the entire club. It reflects the high calibre of work being produced by our members and underscores the importance of supporting and celebrating one another’s achievements. Leslie’s exhibition serves as a reminder of the rewards that come from long-term commitment to the craft, and we hope it inspires others to explore new creative directions of their own.
If you have not yet had the opportunity to attend, we encourage you to do so before the exhibition closes at the end of June. Full details, including visiting hours and directions, are available via the Corinium Museum website. Whether you are attending as a fellow photographer, an admirer of the natural world, or simply someone with an appreciation for visual art, this is an exhibition well worth seeing.
On behalf of the committee and all members, we offer our heartfelt congratulations to Leslie Holmes. It is a pleasure to see your talent recognised in this way, and we are proud to see your work displayed to the wider public.
