Blog Image – Icelandic Nights by Andy Harbin

Thursday night was a three way battle between Stroud Camera Club, Newent & District Camera Club and Coleford Photographic Club. We had the pleasure of hosting things this year and Peter Weaver was the esteemed judge for the evening.

Below is a blog of the evening from Richard Atkinson with the results and links to galleries of all the images.

Three into one DOES go!

Last Thursday we were pleased to host the annual Battle between Stroud, Newent and Coleford clubs.  Representatives from Newent and Coleford squeezed in to join a good turn-out of Stroud members for a fascinating set of prints and DPIs from all three clubs.  They’re a friendly bunch too and the noise levels were high at the half time break with animated and enthusiastic chat between like-minded individuals swapping information and anecdotes.

Our judge for the evening was Peter Weaver APAGB CPAGB LRPS, and what a great job he did.  Peter’s judging style is relaxed and his pronouncements were interspersed with entertaining anecdotes to illustrate his points.  His critique of each image was well considered and never less than constructive and encouraging greatly adding to the enjoyment of the evening.

There’s a nice competitive edge to these battles and the anticipation built through the evening as it became clear that all three clubs were scoring well.  At the end of the evening all was revealed:

  • In 3rd place, Newent with a score of 355 points
  • In 2nd place,  Coleford with a score of 357 points
  • In 1st place,  Stroud won the day with 362 points

It was an incredibly close result so congratulations go to all three clubs for entertaining everyone with a cracking set of images.  Very many thanks to Newent and Coleford members for coming along to join us and we look forward to next year!
